Razer Blade review (2014): a 'no-compromise' premium gaming laptop

The newest Razer Blade is the company's best laptop yet, but it trades epic battery life for an exceptional display.

Fast and powerful ; Great 3,200 x 1,800 display ; Slim, compact and attractive

Expensive ; Screen resolution can undercut performance ; Shorter battery life than the 2013 model

Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan describes the 2014 Razer Blade as a "no-compromise" gaming laptop, and that's almost accurate. Between the machine's screaming graphics performance, its thin chassis and that new QHD+ touchscreen, I was hard-pressed to find a...

Razer Blade Stealth review

One of the unexpected surprises from earlier this year was the Razer Blade Stealth , a high-end 12.5-inch ultrabook from Razer that represented a major shift for that PC and accessory maker. Rather than another highly designed gaming laptop, the...

The Razer Blade Stealth includes a Core i7 processor and high-res touchscreen even in its lowest-end configuration; it has more ports than other 12-inch laptops and a fun Chroma backlit keyboard.

It's bigger and heavier than 12-inch laptops from Apple, Asus and others. The thick bezel around the screen feels dated and configuration options are limited.

The Razer Blade Stealth offers better specs for less money than the competition, and includes features others lack, such as a high-res touch screen and full-size USB ports. The design is slick, the price is right, but it's not as slim and portable as...

Razer Blade (2014)

The newest Razer Blade ultraportable gaming laptop has a lot to love, but we had very high hopes and came away a bit disappointed.

Slim, ultraportable design. New Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M graphics card. Upgraded graphics. Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) display with 3,200-by-1,800 resolution and touch capability.

Runs very hot. High-resolution display may actually hamper performance. Shorter battery life than previous model reduces portability.

Conclusion The Razer Blade (2014) is disappointing, mostly because we had such high hopes. Razer still manages to outfit the laptop with some amazing capabilities, but it feels like the company reached too far, too soon, stepping up the resolution at...

Review: Razer Blade (2014)

The latest version of Razer's perennial hit -- a sleek, super-powered gaming laptop -- has been updated with a better screen, and it's still the...

Still the best way to get gaming to go. Responsive touchscreen and touchpad. Impressive speaker quality. Upped resolution now supports 3200 x 1800 pixels

Dimmer screen is a letdown, as is the price hike. What, no page up/page down keys? One key’s backlight died during testing

Razer Blade (2014) review: laptop gaming never looked so good

I feel spoiled. Ever since I started playing games on the new Razer Blade gaming laptop, I've had a tough time enjoying them practically anywhere else. My TV and my desktop PC only display games at...

Great design ; Sharp, high-resolution display ; Good touchpad performance

Poor battery life ; No SD card slot ; Some games don't work at full resolution

Razer Blade 2014 review: A beautifully sleek gaming laptop gets even better with touch

Can a better high-res touch display and new graphics make Razer's latest gaming computer the ultimate portable powerhouse?

The new Razer Blade boasts the same beautifully thin design, but adds a sharp 3,200x1,800 touch display and advanced Nvidia graphics.

The battery life is worse than last year's model's. Adding more SSD storage can turn this into a pricey laptop.

Razer’s newest gaming laptop trades ultralong battery life for a fantastic screen and even better graphics. It’s a trade worth making: this is the best Razer gaming laptop, and the best thin gaming PC anywhere.

Razer Blade 14 (2014) review

Ah, to be thin and beautiful. In the world of laptops, that feels like the mission across the board, except when it comes to gaming laptops. But what if there were a Retina MacBook Pro of gaming? What if it had a super high-res touch display and...

Gaming power and portability ; Generally understated design ; Great battery life

Viewing angle and contrast ; Lack of connectivity ; Uncomfortably hot for gaming

Inside the chassis, the Razer Blade features a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7-2640M processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M (2GB) discrete graphics chip with Optimus technology, which will help extend that 60Wh battery's life span. There's...

Razer Blade Stealth (13-inch)

The original Razer Blade stealth turned heads with its stunningly sleek design and powerful performance, but its 12-inch screen felt a bit cramped. The new Stealth (starting at $1,399, reviewed at $1,599) crams a 13.3-inch display into the same slim...
