Xbox One X

Xbox One X review: We look at the new 4K console including graphics comparisons and performance analysis. Is it worth the price?

Gorgeous 4K visuals ; Quiet running ; Improves performance in some games

Quality of graphics enhancements vary by game ; Small and slow hard disk ; Relatively high price

The pinnacle in console hardware, but not yet a must-buy.

Microsoft Xbox One X review: A console that keeps up with gaming PCs

As promised, the Xbox One X is the most powerful game console ever. In practice, though, it really just puts Microsoft on equal footing with Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro. 4K/HDR enhanced games look great, but it's lack of VR is disappointing in 2017.

Most powerful hardware ever in a home console ; Solid selection of enhanced titles ; 4K Blu-ray drive is great for movie fans

Expensive ; Not worth it if you don’t have a 4K TV ; Still no VR support

Ultimately, the Xbox One X offers some major performance upgrades that gamers will notice -- especially if you're coming from an original Xbox One. But it's also a bit disappointing since it's coming a year after the PS4 Pro, and it doesn't offer VR...

Xbox One X hands-on review

The Xbox One X can make games look gorgeous, but you'll need the right gear.

Games look great at 4K with HDR ; Backwards compatible with accessories ; Runs entire Xbox One library

The benefits to 1080p gaming are limited ; Lacks a system-selling feature

Xbox One X: Everything you need to know about Microsoft's powerful 4K gaming console

Xbox One X review

The world's most powerful console is here.

A lot of games will get a power boost, with support for Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One titles ; 4K Blu-ray drive ; Small and well-designed hardware

You need external storage, 1TB isn’t enough ; Not enough exclusive 4K-enhanced games ; The One S offers HDR and 4K Blu-ray support for less money

For anyone else, this probably isn’t the console for you. Sony really has some impressive exclusives on the way, and it’s hard for Microsoft to counter this despite its great job on the hardware. Microsoft promised the best hardware, and it delivered —...

Microsoft Xbox One X

The Xbox One X is the most powerful console yet, with 4K and HDR graphics for games that support it. It's still no replacement for a gaming PC, though.

Impressive performance for a console. Ultra HD Blu-ray. HDR and wide color gamut. Full Xbox One compatibility.

Expensive. Games need to be updated to take advantage of the extra power. 4K resolution, HDR, and frame rates are inconsistent across games. No Dolby Vision.

Bottom Line: The Xbox One X is the most powerful console yet, with 4K and HDR graphics for games that support it. It's still no replacement for a gaming PC, though.

Microsoft Xbox One X review

Xbox's new console won't be for everyone, but if you're set up for 4K, it's definitely worth a punt...

Clean, detailed and immersive 4K image ; Bright and punchy HDR ; Improved user interface ; Bitstream audio support

Picture and sound can be bettered for less money ; Some set-up quirks ; No 4K pass-through over HDMI ; 1TB hard drive isn't big enough

The Xbox One X is a capable all-consuming box of 4K tricks, even if it isn’t the final word in outright quality

Xbox One X review: A surprising amount of power in a very small box

The Xbox One X is faster than ever, and it also matches up to the majority (55 percent or more) of gaming PCs today—and for only $500. Pretty impressive, for a console.

The most powerful console by a long shot ; Small, quiet, and unassuming ; Cheaper than full PC system builds with equivalent graphics cards

If you've got money to spend, a decent PC will still take you further (and is upgradeable) ; 1 TB hard drive is not prepared for the realities of modern gaming ; User interface is still a mess

Alaina’s build above came in around $650-700. That’s another area where the Xbox One X has a major advantage—price. We’ve put together , and the cheapest (sans-optical drive because Steam exists) is around $640. That’ll get you basic 4K, 30...

Review: Microsoft Xbox One X

The fastest Xbox ever is a slim slab of 4K goodness.

It's the most powerful console you can buy. But is that enough?

It's undoubtedly a powerful console, but the audience for the Xbox One X is razor thin.

The Xbox One X is a powerful step-up console that supports 4K, HDR and offers improved visuals and framerates for certain games. It can play all Xbox One games, some 360 and original Xbox games, and it ships with a 1TB drive.

At $500, it's the most expensive game console right now. The list of console-exclusive titles generally falls short of its direct competition, the PS4 Pro. Not every game will receive 4K or HDR enhancements.

Xbox One X lays a credible claim to the title of most powerful game console ever, but it has an uphill battle for your gaming dollar, especially if you already own an original Xbox One.
