The design remains the same, but Apple's latest MacBook Pro has received a welcomed upgrade under the hood. The glossy display, slow hard drive and poorly positioned USB ports remain issues, but better performance and battery life than previous models...

Apple's latest MacBook Pro features improved internal components and now comes with an SD card slot at the expense of an ExpressCard slot. The superb aluminium design remains the same and performance is pretty impressive on the whole.

While the cost of the new MacBook Pros makes it unlikely to convert sceptics, die-hard Apple users will appreciate the evolution of this refresh. Both performance and battery life are increased noticeably and Apple's design flair and refinement remain...

Lacks microSD slot, USB Type-A ports. As ever, no touch-screen option. Expensive as configured.

Bottom Line: With a larger display, a beefier graphics chip, and (vitally and finally!) an improved keyboard, Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro is a beyond-capable big-screen powerhouse built for creatives.
