With the most recent firmware update, the Samsung BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player is a solid dual-format HD disc player as well as an impressive upscaling DVD player.

Plays Blu-ray and HD DVD discs. Quick start-up. Immediate resume from stopped playback with Blu-ray and DVD movies. Excellent upscaling DVD player. Top-notch HD video-processing quality.

HD DVD PiP displayed with incorrect aspect ratio. No 24-Hz output with DVD video. No raw bitstream output with Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD lossless audio formats.

The Samsung BD-UP5000 is the best combo HD disc player currently available.

I buy the 2012 blu-ray movie and, some how it's not playing on my sumsung blu-ray player BD-UP5000 is any one have happen know what is going on with the sumsung BD-UP5000 and is only can play some and some can't even i update the firmware still not...

good thing about is, have two format play blu-ray and HD DVD

bad thing is only can play some of the blu-ray movie only

Very nice player, still a shame that Blu-Ray has region coding and that no hack for negating it has yet been found. Long live HD-DVD!

I Agree with Frank, Nice to have two formats in one machine. May be on the expensive side but $200 cheaper than the LG BH200 which the LG BH200 doesn't support all functions(options)
